 38. PROJECT:Hill Irrigation District
LEVEL:New Application
SPONSOR:Hill Irrigation District
LOCATION:Goshen County
PROGRAM:Rehabilitation

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Hill Irrigation District is located directly north of Torrington and serves approximately 3,650 acres and 34 water users. The District assesses $12.00/acre. Much of the delivery system for the Hill Irrigation District has been placed in concrete channels and pipe. These improvements have been well maintained and are in good condition. The District has experienced trouble maintaining open, unlined sections of their main supply canal and laterals. Trash removal is difficult and wind and low gradients enable the buildup of sediments. The district members would like the remaining unlined areas to be evaluated and preliminary designs and cost estimates prepared for improvement. In addition, the district would like the existing measuring devices and gates evaluated and possibly moved. The project would promote the efficient use of water and conservation. The system is adjacent to public roads and a housing development and improvements in that area would promote public safety.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the project be incorporated into the Rehabilitation Program at Level II status with an appropriation of $40,000.
