PROJECT INFORMATION:
The North Strawberry Canal supplies irrigation water to 3200 acres of
flood irrigation and sprinkler systems. The present diversion structure
is located at the mouth of Strawberry Canyon. The system requires
numerous pumps at selected points along the system to complete the
transmission of the irrigation water to certain sections of the
irrigated lands. The canal users would like to replace the canal with a
pipeline thereby converting the system to a gravity pressure system to
eliminate ditch losses and pumping costs, and reduce maintenance costs.
The proposed Level II study will serve to inventory the system, identify
needed improvements, and consider rehabilitation alternatives.
Conceptual designs and cost estimates will be prepared for the
recommended alternative.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The Commission recommends the project be incorporated into the
Rehabilitation Program at Level II status with an appropriation of
$50,000.
