PROJECT INFORMATION:
The existing water treatment facilities serving the Poison Spider Water
Company (PSWC) are not in compliance with EPA requirements. EPA has
issued an order to Poison Spider to correct the deficiencies. There are
approximately 30 residences in the Poison Spider Service and Improvement
District. The area encompasses approximately 24 square miles. The PSWC
currently pumps water from the Platte River and the only existing
treatment is chlorination.
The Level II report, completed in 1994, noted numerous deficiencies in
the district's distribution system that may be beyond the financial
capability of the district to fix. The Level II study evaluated several
water supply options including development of a deep well, drilling an
alluvial well, and construction of a transmission pipeline to the
Pioneer Water and Sewer District. A connection to the Pioneer Water and
Sewer District with an 8" pipeline was determined to be the most
technologically feasible and cost effective option to provide water to
the Poison Spider Service and Improvement District. The project
components that are recommended for funding may be taken over by the
Natrona Regional Water Supply Joint Powers Board. The project is
currently under construction and will be completed in early 1996.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is required on this project.
