1997 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects

 23. PROJECT:Corner Mountain Water Supply
LEVEL:II-Hold
SPONSOR:Corner Mountain Water and Sewer District
LOCATION:Albany County
PROGRAM:New Development

EXISTING LEGISLATION:
Purpose Chapter Session Account Appropriation Due Date
Level I 8 1995 I $25,000   1996
Level II 15 1996 I Hold* 1998
*A block appropriation of $15,000 was made for all hold projects.

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Corner Mountain area is located north of Centennial, Wyoming. The District boundaries include up to 350 potential taps, but planning has been based on 90 taps. The District requested WWDC assistance to determine the feasibility of constructing a groundwater based centralized water system. The WWDC has completed a Level I analysis of the areas around Centennial, Wyoming.

The Level I study delineated the potential service areas, identified and evaluated water supply alternatives, and developed preliminary plans and cost estimates. Drilling a groundwater well appears to be the best alternative at this point. Pumping water from Centennial was analyzed, however, it was too costly to be given further consideration.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the project be removed from "hold" status and advanced to Level II with an appropriation of $350,000.
