 47. PROJECT:Lander - Taylor Ditch
LEVEL:New Application
SPONSOR:City of Lander
LOCATION:Fremont County
PROGRAM:Rehabilitation

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Taylor Ditch traverses the southern part of the City of Lander. Past actions by various parties involved have caused instability problems along a portion of the canal. A canal failure could result in portions of the city being flooded. The City of Lander has chosen to sponsor the project to get resolution of the problem. The Taylor Ditch is owned and operated by the Taylor Ditch Company. The ditch company is made up of the irrigators, the City of Lander, and the golf course joint powers board.

The City of Lander and the Taylor Ditch Company have initiated formation of an irrigation district to sponsor the project. The project will include geotechnical evaluations of the slide area to determined failure areas and to identify seepage areas into the canal and from the canal.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The Commission recommends that the project be accepted into the Rehabilitation Program at Level II with an appropriation of $50,000.
