PROJECT INFORMATION:
The 1994 Master Plan study evaluated various options for expanding Laramie's water supply, storage, treatment, transmission and distribution system to meet expanding demands. The study recommended a long-term schedule for improving both the surface and groundwater supply systems. In 1995 recommendations for Level III construction funding were made from both the New Development and Rehabilitation accounts.

The 1995 rehabilitation appropriation addressed rehabilitation of an existing storage facility and Soldier Springs. The storage facility rehabilitation is now complete and the replacement well at Soldier Springs is scheduled for 1997. The 1997 projects will include the replacement of portions of the water supply pipeline between the water treatment plant and the city, which is necessary to insure reliable use of the city's surface water supply, and will include replacement of a portion of the raw water pipeline between Sodergreen Lake and the water treatment plant. The 1996 appropriation addresses the second phase of a long-term program of system improvements.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is required.
