1997 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects
94. | PROJECT: | Wamsutter Water Supply | | | | | |
| LEVEL: | New Application |
| SPONSOR: | Town of Wamsutter |
| LOCATION: | Sweetwater County |
| PROGRAM: | New Development |
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Town of Wamsutter is located in far eastern Sweetwater County and
derives its water supply from three wells, all more than 50 years old.
The WWDC completed a new well for the town in 1984, but this well was
never put on line, allegedly because problems during well completion
decreased the available yield. Wamsutter requested assistance to
evaluate the condition and remaining life of all four wells, and
recommendations for rehabilitation or replacement to insure an adequate
supply of water for the community. The Wamsutter system serves a
population of 425 through 97 taps. The system is unmetered and the water
rates are $17 per month.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the project be incorporated into the New Development
Program at Level II status with an appropriation of $105,000.
