PROJECT INFORMATION:
The sponsor currently utilizes a raw water system for the main part of
town that satisfies the irrigation needs of its residents, and the park
and golf course irrigation demands for the city. The raw water system
has been in existence for many years and is in need of updated pumping,
conveyance, and storage facilities. The Shoshone Pipeline, which meets
the potable water needs of the Northern Bighorn Basin, was designed
assuming Cody's raw water system would continue to meet the raw water
needs of the area, thereby reducing the design capacity of the Shoshone
Pipeline.
The sponsor has acquired the services of Engineering Associates to
prepare a Level II study and cost estimates for rehabilitation of their
existing raw water system, and for expansion of that system into the
rest of the city. The sponsor has decided to proceed with this effort
in phases, starting with the rehabilitation portion of the project. The
rehabilitation effort includes: new pumping equipment at New Cody
Reservoir, an upgrade to the existing pumping equipment, additional
pumping equipment at Beck Lake, a new 1 million gallon storage tank at a
higher elevation, and 10,880 feet of new 8 - 18 inch transmission main.
The total project budget is $1,700,000.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is necessary.
