PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Glenrock water system serves a population of about 3,000 people.
There are 1042 active taps. Water rates are $9.00 for the first 3000
gallons, $1.00/1000 gallons thereafter and water bills average $28.00
per month.
The Town of Glenrock is interested in developing surface and groundwater
supplies to irrigate parks, the cemetery, golf course and school yards.
If economically feasible, the town has sufficient water rights to
accommodate this use.
The proposed Level II study will 1) determine water supply needs, 2)
inventory and assess the transfer of surface and groundwater rights to
best benefit the town in their pursuit of raw water irrigation system
development, 3) evaluate water quality and the condition of the wells,
4) evaluate the suitability of irrigating with ground water from the
Park Well, the South Recreation Complex Well, the Deer Creek Well, the
AML Well, and Deer Creek surface water, 5) develop water supply options,
6) complete preliminary designs and cost estimates for the water supply
options, and 7) complete an economic study and ability to pay analysis,
determine permitting and environmental constraints.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the project be incorporated into the New
Development Program at Level II with a proposed appropriation of
$75,000.00.
