Project Reports
75. | PROJECT: | Nine Mile | | | | | |
| LEVEL: | New Application |
| SPONSOR: | Nine Mile Water Users |
| LOCATION: | Albany County |
| PROGRAM: | New Development |
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Nine Mile water users are currently hauling water from Laramie to
their storage tanks. One user has 1000 gallons per week hauled to her
home at a rate of approximately $90.00 per month. The groundwater is not
usable in the area due to high chemical content. In addition to having
no drinking water, there were two major fires in the Nine Mile area in
the last year and they have no water for fire fighting. The Nine Mile
residents are currently in the process of forming a water and sewer
district. They have also contacted the City of Laramie and indicated
that they would like to purchase water from the city. The City of
Laramie would like to know what the logistics are of providing water to
this area and the commitment of the residents to making the water
district work. This project should look at the supply and distribution
options of the Laramie water supply and the costs to make the system
work. This analysis will include the Seven Mile area that is currently
being served by Laramie.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the project be incorporated into the New
Development Program at Level I status with an appropriation of $20,000.
