1999 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects

 56. PROJECT:Laramie - Taylor Ditch
LEVEL:II
SPONSOR:City of Lander
LOCATION:Fremont County
PROGRAM:Rehabilitation

EXISTING LEGISLATION:
Purpose Chapter Session Account Appropriation Due Date
Level II 46 1997 II $50,000 1998

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Taylor Ditch traverses the southern part of the City of Lander. Past actions by various parties involved have caused instability problems along a portion of the canal. A canal failure could result in portions of the city being flooded. The City of Lander sponsored the project through the Level II analysis. The Level II analysis determined several potential solutions to the slide problems and the seepage. The Taylor Ditch is owned and operated by the Taylor Ditch Company. The ditch company is made up of the irrigators, the City of Lander, and the golf course joint powers board. The ditch company is not a public entity and is therefore not eligible to sponsor a WWDC project. The entities involved are attempting to organize into a special district to handle the repairs and improvements.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is required.
