2000 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects
05. | PROJECT: | Bairoil Test Well | | | | | |
| LEVEL: | II |
| SPONSOR: | Town of Bairoil |
| LOCATION: | Carbon County |
| PROGRAM: | New Development |
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The town of Bairoil is seeking to expand their groundwater supply by
drilling a second production-size test well with similar production
and water quality properties to that of the test well emplaced in
1999 by WWDC. The town, in order to sever its dependency on an oil
field water supply pipeline (see Bairoil Water Supply above) and
provide for future growth and redundancy, wants an additional
groundwater source. Favorable criteria for siting the second well
would include minimizing the distance for installing transmission
and power lines, maximizing the well spacing such that drawdown
interference between pumping wells is reduced, and locating optimal
aquifer characteristics in the Battle Springs Formation.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the project be incorporated in the New Development
Program at Level II with an appropriation of $200,000.
