2000 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects
116. | PROJECT: | Wind River Export Study | | | | | |
| LEVEL: | New Application |
| SPONSOR: | State/Tribes |
| LOCATION: | Fremont County |
| PROGRAM: | New Development |
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The North Platte River has experienced increased pressure through the
Endangered Species Act and the Section 7 Consultation actions required
by the US Fish & Wildlife for North Platte River depletions. The Tribes
are interested in marketing a portion of their decreed water. The state
and Tribes are interested in determining the least environmentally damaging
and most economic route and means for diverting water from the Wind River
system to the North Platte River. The study will evaluate the potentials
of alternative power sources as well as power generation potentials.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the project be incorporated in the New Development
Program at Level I with an appropriation of $175,000.
