2002 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects
76. | PROJECT: | Lovell ID Hydro Power | | | | | |
| LEVEL: | New Application |
| SPONSOR: | Lovell Irrigation District |
| LOCATION: | Big Horn County |
| PROGRAM: | New Development |
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Lovell Irrigation District would like to pursue a detailed cost analysis of the rehabilitation of
several locations in its irrigation canal system. The District would like to convert several problem
areas of the current ditch system into pipe drop structure type conveyances to eliminate seepage
losses. At the same time, the District would also like a detailed cost analysis to determine the
feasibility and cost of placing hydropower generators in these new drop structures. This study will
also include a study or the transmission requirements to get the generated power to a power user.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the project be incorporated into the Rehabilitation Program at Level II
with an appropriation of $60,000.
