PROJECT INFORMATION:
The North Platte River has experienced increased pressure through the Endangered Species Act and
the Section 7 Consultation actions required by the US Fish & Wildlife for North Platte River
depletions. The Tribes are interested in marketing a portion of their decreed water. The state and
Tribes are interested in determining the least environmentally damaging and most economic route
and means for diverting water from the Wind River system and marketing it in the North Platte River
system, in the Front Range area of Colorado, or in the Colorado River system. The study evaluated
these export schemes plus the potential of bottling water and marketing a bottled water product. The
study also evaluated the potentials of alternative power sources as well as power generation
potentials.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is necessary.
