PROJECT INFORMATION:
Under the 1997 Level III construction appropriation the pipeline from the in-town wells to the
storage tank was replaced with larger pipe. Under the 1999 Level III construction appropriation
one in-town well has been replaced and the other rehabilitated. A contract has been awarded to
build a new water storage tank west of town and install connecting piping between the new tank
and the distribution system. The town has purchased property west of town subsequent to finding
a promising groundwater supply there. With the passage of time, inflation, and more distant
wellfield location will require that both additional time and additional funding of $400,000 be
approved by the legislature in order for the project to be completed. The project is being funded
by WWDC and RUS on a 60/40 split, with WWDC providing 60% of the funding as grant funds.
The balance of financing will be provided by RUS and/or other sources. This request is for an
additional $240,000 in water development account grant funds and an extension of the reversion
date to July 1, 2007 will allow for the completion of the project. With the additional time and
funding this project will provide the town with a new water source away from the potential
hazards of the in-town wellfield area.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the reversion date for project funding be amended to be July 1, 2007.
WWDC recommends the level III appropriation from the new development account for project
funding be amended to be $1,207,800. The financing plan is a 60% grant, $1,207,800. The
balance of financing for the $2,013,000 project budget will be provided by RUS and /or other
sources.
