Level II 36 2000 I $355,000 2002
Level II 86 2001 I $145,000 2002

PROJECT INFORMATION:
In 1992, a Level I study conducted for the town of Moorcroft recommended construction of a new storage tank and connection piping collection system. The study also recommended that both a Lance/Fox Hills Formation well and a Madison Formation well be developed. In 1994, after the conclusion of a Level II study, the town of Moorcroft constructed the new storage tank, system piping, and drilled a new Lance/Fox Hills test well. The Madison test well has also recently been drilled.

The test well was completed in October of 2001 to a total depth of 3,750 feet into the Madison Limestone aquifer. The well was constant-rate pump tested at 602 gpm over a seven-day period with a resultant drawdown of 76 feet. This rate is over 5 times the present capacity of their existing wells. The water quality is within primary drinking water standards but is extremely hard (605 mg/L as CaCO3) and therefore some treatment will be required for specific uses. The Town has applied for 2003 funding from WWDC and USDA-RUS. The test wells will be connected to the Town's distribution system.
