PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Rafter J Improvement and Service District has a population of approximately 2,500 people.
The community has a water supply system supplied by two wells and a 200,000 gallon storage
tank. The system serves 500 homes and 25 commercial taps. The system was originally designed
to include three wells and an additional tank. The existing system in inadequate and cannot met
demands during the summer. The district would like to drill another well and provide additional
storage.
The Community formed their district in 1998, and a Level II evaluation was completed project.
The Level III funding request was rejected by the Select Water Committee in 1998.
The updated project cost estimate is as follows:

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the legislature provide an appropriation from water account II to
construct the project. The appropriation should be comprised of 50% grant funding and 50% loan
funding. The interest rate for the loan is 6% for a term of 30 years.
