Wyoming Weather Modification Program: Projects
Siting and Design
Bighorn Mountains
Interest in weather modification operations in the Bighorn Mountains represents a new area not previously studied, and as such, requires the preparatory work necessary to lay a foundation for an operational program to be considered. To address this interest, the 2015 Wyoming State Legislature funded a conceptual design and siting feasibility study for the area. The study will include assessments of climatology, hydrology, permit procurement, project land procurement, seeding agent delivery systems, weather forecasting, operational costs and potential funding partners. The conceptual design and siting feasibility study is being conducted by the Research Applications Laboratory (RAL) of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in collaboration with Weather Modification, Inc.(WMI), and Heritage Environmental Consultants (Heritage).
