PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Town of Rolling Hills received assistance from the Water Development
Commission in the past to construct a Lance Formation well and improvements
to the town's storage and transmission system. While the WWDC
well is in good condition and remains a major water source, the two
older wells apparently were improperly constructed and developed. The
wells are also located too close together and cannot be pumped at
maximum capacity at the same time.
The Level II project included construction of an additional well,
evaluation of the existing water system, and preparation of conceptual
designs and cost estimates for needed improvements.
The project includes the new well that was completed during Level II
($80,000), the pumping system, building, controls, and appurtenances
($115,000), the pipeline and appurtenances necessary to connect the new
well to the existing transmission system ($11,500), and a chlorination
system ($3,500).
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The Commission recommends that the project be advanced to Level III
status in the New Development Program with a budget of $200,000. The
financing plan includes a 67% grant and a 33% loan (4%, 20 years). The
sponsor will be required to reimburse the WWDC for 33% of the Level II
well construction cost ($26,400, 4%, 20 years).
