1997 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects

    2. PROJECT:Alpine Water Supply
LEVEL:III
SPONSOR:Town of Alpine
LOCATION:Lincoln County
PROGRAM:New Development

EXISTING LEGISLATION:
Purpose Chapter Session Account Appropriation Due Date
Level III 206 1995 I $700,000* 1998
*67% grant, 33% loan (4%, 20 years)

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The project will serve 450 residents with 230 taps. The town is concerned about rapid development within the corporate limits as well as the surrounding areas. The town requested WWDC assistance to improve their water supply system. Alpine has prepared the equivalent of a Level II study with their own financial resources.

The town's study identified the need for two storage facilities and pipelines. These new facilities would have the capacity to meet the growing needs of the town as well as the adjoining subdivisions. In 1995, the final design and permitting was completed and construction commenced.

The project was activated in the fall of 1996 and is in service. Some minor cleanup and telemetry remains to be completed at this time. As surrounding areas develop, the Town of Alpine is in a position to assist with additional potable water demand.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is needed for this project.
