1997 LEGISLATIVE REPORT
Active Projects

 55. PROJECT:Manville Water Supply
LEVEL:II
SPONSOR:Town of Manville
LOCATION:Niobrara County
PROGRAM:New Development

EXISTING LEGISLATION:
Purpose Chapter Session Account Appropriation Due Date
Level II 15 1996 I $200,000 1998

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The town is presently served by two wells about 200 feet deep into the Arikaree Formation. The wells are 70 years old, located only about 30 feet apart in the same building. The town recently completed renovation of their 25,000 gallon storage tank using Farm Loan Board funds, and has diligently maintained the distribution portion of their system. In 1996, the Commission recommended that the project be incorporated into the New Development Program at Level II with a budget of $200,000. This Level II project consisted of a well siting study, construction and testing of production-sized well, and conceptual plans and cost estimates for converting the test well to production status and connecting the new well to the town's existing distribution system. The Commission anticipates a Level III construction request for funding from the 1998 Legislative session.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is required on this project.
