PROJECT INFORMATION:
The 1994 Master Plan study evaluated various options for expanding
Laramie's water supply, storage, treatment, transmission and
distribution system to meet expanding demands. The study recommended a
long-term schedule for improving both the surface and groundwater supply
systems. In 1995 recommendations for Level III construction funding
were made from both the New Development and Rehabilitation accounts.
The 1995 rehabilitation appropriation addressed rehabilitation of an
existing storage facility and Soldier Springs. The storage facility
rehabilitation is now complete and the replacement well at Soldier
Springs was drilled in 1997. Also in 1997 design was completed on the
replacement of portions of the water supply pipeline between the water
treatment plant and the city, replacement of a portion of the raw water
pipeline between Sodergreen Lake and the water treatment plant, and a
new pumphouse for the Soldiers Springs replacement well. All three of
these projects have been bid and a construction contract awarded. It is
anticipated that all three projects will be completed by July, 1998.
The 1996 appropriation addresses the second phase of a long-term program
of system improvements.
