PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Wheatland Irrigation District received a loan and grant appropriation
of $475,000 for eligible project expenses. The purpose of the project is
to repair the breach of the Sand Lake Dam, armor the spillway, install a
telemetry monitoring system at Sand Lake, repair the Dutton Creek Reservoir
outlet pipe, replace Dutton Canal concrete lining, stabilize the Cañon Canal
slide area, install concrete lining in Cañon Canal along I-80, replace and
install check and turnout structures and install appurtenances as necessary.
The district has secured the project funding and is negotiating a contract
with an engineer for design and construction inspection services. Construction
of the various project components is likely to extend over several years.
