PROJECT INFORMATION:
The town system consists of an infiltration gallery, two flowing wells, two tanks with 1.3 million gallons of storage, and a number of manual and automatic control valves. The town is under administrative order from EPA for violations of the Surface Water Treatment Rule associated with the diversion through their infiltration gallery on Shell Creek. EPA has also expressed concern with the town having all its storage on the east side of the Bighorn River, with none on the west side of the river. This situation leaves them vulnerable to a line failure at their river crossing. In addition, residents southwest of Greybull have requested water service from the town.

The Level II study makes recommendations regarding additional storage, transmission and distribution lines that will resolve the town's storage problems, provide water to areas adjacent to town, and provide for more efficient operation of the system. The town will likely be requesting assistance in constructing these improvements from the 2000 Legislature.
