1999 LEGISLATIVE REPORT

PROJECT INFORMATION:
During the 1996-1997 Level III rehabilitation program it was discovered that the severity of the corrosion 36" diameter transmission pipeline was not as extensive as was anticipated, therefore, this pipeline will not need to be replaced. However, the corrosion of the 24" transmission pipeline was discovered to be worse than what was documented in the 1995 Level II study. This pipeline will now need to be replaced. This project is currently under design with the start of construction anticipated in the spring of 1999 and completion for the fall of 2000.

The second component of this project is to rehabilitate the Laramie River Pioneer Canal Diversion structure to accommodate winter flows. Recent growth and population projects require the city to operate its water treatment plant on a year round basis. Presently winter flows to the treatment plant are measured by installing a temporary flume which is plagued by icing conditions. This project will provide a permanent solution to diverting and measuring the flows which will improve the winter time operation. This part of the project is under construction and, barring unforeseen obstacles will be complete in February, 1999.
