PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Town of Pine Bluff's water supply system consists of six wells, and
a conveyance, storage, and distribution system. They are having
difficulty with low pressure in some parts of their distribution system,
and they are concerned with its age. The Town of Pine Bluffs has a
population of 1054, and serves 510 taps. They are presently able to
meet existing demands, however, anticipated growth may exceed present
supplies.
In 1994, a Level I study was completed to inventory the existing water
supply system, define needed improvements, and provide preliminary
designs and cost estimates for those improvements. As a result of this
study, the town requested advancement to Level II in order to perform
well efficiency studies.
The Level II study was completed in 1995, and identifies several areas
in need of repair or modification, including: replacement of well #5,
its pumphouse, pump, telemetry, etc. ($75,141); rehabilitation of well
#4, its pumphouse, pump, telemetry, etc. ($60,973); a transmission line
from the wells directly to storage ($650,969); a chlorination system
($31,625); and distribution system improvements ($412,390). The latter
two components are not eligible for WWDC funding. The eligible components
of the project total $865,000.
The 1996 Legislature approved funding for the replacement of well #5
and rehabilitation of well #4. The town has hired an engineer who is
preparing design documents. Construction is anticipated to begin and
be completed in 1999.
