PROJECT INFORMATION:
The city has recently extended its water mains to the Wyoming State Honor
Farm. An additional well has been added to their supply system in this
area to aid in equalization of pressures, and to help supply the additional
growth they foresee in this area.
Phase I of the project has been completed. Phase II, installation of the
pump, pipeline and appurtenances, are scheduled to proceed during 1999.
However, a funding shortfall has occurred. Additional funding is needed
due to the following:
- First, at the time of the original estimates, pipeline construction
costs were lower and the pipeline was increased from 8" to 12".
Furthermore, the pipeline was relocated from the north side of Honor
Farm Road to the south side. This change requires the installation
of some large diameter storm sewer pipe.
- Second, additional well testing was required to isolate some poor
quality water. This resulted in a substantial increase to the
engineer's fees.
- Third, the poor quality water is believed to be originating from
the bottom portion of the well. This section will be plugged at a
cost of $14,310.
- Fourth, the cost of the well house, well pump, pipeline and appurtenances
will cost more than originally projected.
- Finally, because of the size of the well pump, a motor controller
with soft-start and soft-stop will be added.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends that the project budget be increased by $92,000 with
a 67% grant. The balance of the project costs shall be paid from other
sources.
