 77. PROJECT:South Laramie Water Supply
LEVEL:III
SPONSOR:South of Laramie Water and Sewer District
LOCATION:Albany County
PROGRAM:New Development

EXISTING LEGISLATION:
Purpose Chapter Session Account Appropriation Due Date
Level III 89 1993 I $3,146,400* 1997
*67% grant, 9% loan (4%, 30 years). The remaining 24% will be supplied by the RECD.

PROJECT INFORMATION:
There are approximately 845 persons living in the unincorporated South Laramie area, with the majority obtaining their water from individual wells. A number of wells in the area have failed, and reports of septic tank contamination are common. The homeowners in the area are working toward a solution to their water supply and sewage treatment problems. The Level I study conducted in 1991 outlined the proposed service area, projected population growth, and identified water supply alternatives. The selected water supply alternative is to purchase treated water from the City of Laramie.

The Level III project includes the transmission and storage facilities necessary to deliver Laramie water to the district. The district has received funds from the Farmer's Home Administration necessary to construct a portion of the water system and all of the distribution system. The project construction will be completed in the spring of 1996.

RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is needed on this project.
