PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Wright Water and Sewer District receives water from four Fort Union
wells, depth ranging from 2662' to 3115'. The District has experienced
declining production from all four wells. Using the District's own
resources, two wells were rehabilitated in 1995. The project was
successful in increasing production in these two wells, and the District
would like to duplicate the procedure in the two remaining wells. The
District currently serves a population of 1400 people through 357 taps.
The system is metered and rates are $12 per month for the first 9,000
gallons plus $1.35 per 1000 gallons for use over 9,000 gallons per
month. Average monthly water bills are reported to be $22.00, below the
state average of $26.62. The District is requesting grant funding only,
and will supply the local match from reserve funds. Ability to repay a
project loan is therefore not an issue. The total project budget is
$100,000. A construction contract has been awarded with all work scheduled
to be completed by May, 1998.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
No legislative action is required on this project.
