PROJECT INFORMATION:
The drainage of Spotted Horse Creek, Dead Horse Creek and Wild Horse Creek head east of the
Powder River and are tributary to the Powder River. These three watersheds make up the
watershed study area to be considered.
The Three Horses Watershed supports some limited irrigated as well as dryland agriculture,
however, cattle production is the primary agricultural industry in the watershed.
Due to recent activity involving coalbed methane exploration and extraction, the conservation
districts are interested in evaluating the cumulative impacts to the watershed due to these activities.
This project will include an analysis of these impacts as well as making full use of any other
existing studies available for a complete watershed plan.
RECOMMENDED LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
The WWDC recommends the project be incorporated in the New Development Program at Level I
with an appropriation of $100,000.
