Project Understanding

The recent failures of critical irrigation infrastructure in the State have highlighted the need to discover imminent failures before they occur.

  • Wyoming has a rich and colorful history of irrigation stemming from pre-statehood and continuing through today

  • Many of the original structures are still in use

  • Failure of key structures can result in significant economic impacts

Goals

  • Identify, prioritize, and evaluate the critical irrigation infrastructure in Wyoming

  • Build off of the WWDO Irrigation System Survey

  • Identify funding needs and potential funding sources

  • Identify the constraints that impact project implementation (ownership, permitting, etc.)
